Apple Festival, Apple Tablescape and Treats from From My Carolina Home

It is Apple Festival weekend with a street fair, air show, classic car shows and lots more. There is so much to do all over town as downtown is closed to traffic, and all the area orchards are open with activities and apples for sale. Local groups do pancake breakfasts and other activities to raise money for charity. The main stage has the apple cooking contest on Friday morning, and then different bands playing all through the weekend.

Apple Festival Weekend from From My Carolina Home

Labor Day weekend is Apple Festival time. This annual event celebrates our county’s primary agricultural crop, with a downtown street festival that lasts four days. We usually try to get there for at least one day, often going for both the street festival and then coming back on Monday after they pick up all the booths and hold the King Apple Parade. You can buy apples in a huge number of varieties. Of course, we love the Honey Crisp best. I have talked about different aspects of this show every year.

Most of the orchards in the county have ...

It’s Apple Festival Time from From My Carolina Home

Finally, it is September and this Labor Day weekend is the North Carolina Apple Festival in Hendersonville. I am enjoying the weekend, and celebrating the beginning of the fall season. According to the weather guy, meteorological fall begins September 1, even if the true season based on the Autumnal equinox begins September 22. I have posted about this festival almost every year I’ve been blogging, and it is still a most anticipated event. I’ve linked some of my previous posts to show you more. Apple treats are available at vendors all down Main street, from French Apple Beignets ...

It’s Apple Festival Time from From My Carolina Home

It has cooled off for a few days, with gloriously crisp mornings putting me in the mood for Autumn days ahead. The Apple Festival is this weekend, with most of the festival restored after last year’s cancellations. Time for an apple recipe, a look at some of the festival fun and an apple tablescape or two! Each year for several years now, I’ve posted about a different aspect of the Apple Festival, the biggest event in our small town of the year. From 2014, I posted about the wide variety of apples offered by orchards here.

All kinds ...

Apple Festival Round Up from From My Carolina Home

Happy Labor Day!  Since this is our usual Apple Festival Weekend, I thought it would be a nice time to see some previous posts with all things apple. Comments are closed on older posts as I was getting a huge amount of spam on those, but posts less than two years old still have comments open. This is my Apple Tablescape 2017, and it has some notes on how to serge the table topper made from the apple fabric.

In 2018, I added the gold flatware to the table, and some cute plates to the apple stash. Apple Tablescape 2018 ...

Visiting the Apple Orchards from From My Carolina Home

This is a transitional time in the year for me, still too hot to be considered autumn, but September doesn’t feel like summer either.  This weekend should be the annual Apple Festival, but the downtown street festival is canceled this year.  Instead, the apple orchards are doing individual sales of their apples this weekend, allowing visitors to wander in the orchards to pick their own apples, and some with extra things like a corn maze or live music.  There are 14 orchards on the official tour, and several more that are not.  We still are not comfortable in crowds ...
